Home of Wine Staging development

Wine Staging is the testing area of winehq.org. It contains bug fixes and features, which have not been integrated into the development branch yet. This page allows to suggest patches for inclusion into the Wine Staging branch and provides a way to interact with our build server.

Wine Staging is currently hosted on GitHub. Please note that this repository only contains patches. In order to build Wine Staging, you will also need the source of the corresponding Wine development release. The repository also contains a couple of helper scripts to simplify the steps of applying all or a subset of the patches. Detailed instructions how to build Wine Staging are available in our packaging instructions.

Wine Staging mainly concentrates on experimental features and patches which are difficult to get into the development branch. If you have a very simple patch, please try to submit it to the development branch first. If you already tried that without success, or are working on a complex area and your patches are not suitable for the development branch yet, you can suggest them for inclusion into our Staging tree.

This website provides an easy way to interact with our Wine build server. Currently it is possible to request builds for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora and Mac OSX. It is used for official builds, but can also be used by other developers to debug compiler issues or to provide a patched version for testing purposes. If you would like to get access to the system and you have contributed to the Wine community in the past, follow the instructions linked below.
